Location & Access Policy
The purpose of Radlett and District Museum (the Museum) is to advance education to the public, by the establishment and maintenance of a local museum, covering Radlett and other parts of the Civil Parish of Aldenham and its rich history and heritage.
The Museum is based in a purpose built Portacabin at 413A Watling Street, Radlett, Herts
WD7 7JG. Details of its location, opening times, contact details, transport facilities and Museum facilities are published on its website, www.radlettmuseum.com.
Our Policy:
The Museum understands that everyone has a right to engage with, use and enjoy the Museum and the services that it provides, and it aims to provide the widest possible access to the Museum and its collections.
The Museum's policy is to make improvements as our resources permit.
Our commitment to accessibility extends to our volunteers as well as visitors.
The Museum will review this Access Policy and the accompanying Access Statement (see
Appendix 1) regularly to confirm that it remains accurate.
The Museum will publish its Access Statement on its website to provide comprehensive information about its facilities and services to potential visitors.
The Museum will promote its activities and events using accessible means of communication. A range of ways are provided that people can communicate with us (see details in our Access Statement - Appendix 1). Our website and Facebook page are updated to provide the latest information regarding Museum activities.
The Museum aims to provide levels of information to suit a range of audiences within the confines of the limited space and resources available. We will provide varied means of access to the collections, by displays, publications and on line information.
We may offer occasional displays at off-site venues.
The current labelling of displays is in a large, emboldened font which accommodates most visitors but a Steward will be on hand to assist if necessary. Labelling is in the English language but if a request to offer labelling in any other language is received we will consider what can be achieved within our knowledge base and budget.
