    Introduction to the Museum

Introduction to the Museum

RADLETT & DISTRICT MUSEUM

Welcome to our new 2026 website, and we very much hope you find it easy to use and very accessible for the information you require. We will be expanding the content of this site, so please keep watching for new material.

The Museum Trustees are constituted as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation ( CIO ) and registered with the Charity Commission .

Since 2018, when our archives collection was based on the first floor at the Radlett Library, the Museum was relocated in 2020 to a brand new modern portable office, sited in the rear garden of the Radlett Village Institute, 413 Watling Street. Radlett, WD7 7JG.

Now fitted out as a permanent Museum, it has been open throughout nearly every year, for 2hrs each on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. We are greatly indebted to our diligent volunteers for their ongoing support and time.

Educating our young people about the diverse and long history of the area is one of our aims and we have taken great pleasure in hosting small school groups, in addition to Beaver Cubs and Brownies.

The long process of data logging all our archival material continues, and this will facilitate easier and searchable access to documents, pictures, books, recordings and many other objects relating to Radlett and the local area.

We are always looking for volunteers to help us with this area of work, including proof-reading of audio reminiscences and other interesting documentation activities.

Donations and fund-raising to enable us to keep the Museum running are very important and always welcome. We are indebted to Hertsmere Borough Council for their financial support and grants from Aldenham Parish Council for IT equipment.

lf you have any time to assist us, or to make a donation or bequest, anonymous or otherwise, please contact us via email info@radlettmuseum.com or drop us a line via our letterbox at 413A Watling Street, Radlett, WD7 7JG.

This is your local Museum and it exists for the acquisition and holding of historical records relating to the whole Civil Parish of Aldenham, principally Radlett, Letchmore Heath and Aldenham, but also the settlements of Round Bush, Kemprow, and Patchetts Green.

We look forward to your support to create a first-class local history Museum that will serve us now and endure for generations to come.

The Radlett & District Museum Trustees are grateful to the following for their help and support, and by way of grants, facilities and time:

Aldenham Parish Council
Hertsmere Borough Council
Radlett Society & Green Belt Association
The Radlett Village Institute
